Invitation to ‘Gharat’ Owners & Rural Communities for Establishing Watermills
Improved Water Mill Programme is a Subsidy Programme of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, ( MNRE ) Govt. of India to small entrepreneurs. Through the installation of improved watermills, HIMURJA provides opportunities to Gharat owners/ small entrepreneurs to harness the potential in small streams for self-sustainability. The improved watermills can be installed at the location of existing Gharats or can be developed at a new site where the head is about 8 to 10 meters and discharge availability is around 110-120 ltrs. per second. MNRE, Govt. of India provides financial incentives for the development/up gradation of water mills of Mechanical & Electrical output. From the Mechanical output, the beneficiary can increase the grinding efficiency of existing Gharats whereas from the watermills of electrical output beneficiary can produce the electricity up to 5 kW capacity
Quick information for the beneficiaries
- The CFA will be provided to a beneficiary for up gradation of existing watermills/Gharats or for the development of new watermill.
- The beneficiary should have the ownership right of existing Gharats or in the case of a new site, the land should belong to the beneficiary.
- The beneficiary has to bear the cost of a watermill, over and above the MNRE subsidy.
- The power generated from the watermills will be for captive use only.
- The beneficiary has to submit the proposal for availing subsidy the through the concerned Project officer with his recommendation.
- The application format for watermill is available on the website of Himurja and/or can be obtained from the office of Himurja.
- The CFA will be provided in a phased manner as per the receipt from MNRE.
- To avail the incentives, the installation of watermill should be completed within the time period allowed by MNRE, Govt. of India.
